Worry stones: a small tool for well-being at UWB

This autumn, the Information and Counselling Centre (ICC) at the University of West Bohemia has introduced a new symbolic giveaway: worry stones. A worry stone is a small object that can help reduce tension and stress when held and gently rubbed in the hand. These ethically produced items are being shared with both students and staff, always accompanied by information about the services ICC provides.

Creating worry stones

The idea behind the stones is simple — to offer a tangible reminder that the university strives to be a safe and supportive place, where everyone can seek help and find understanding. Instead of standard promotional items, ICC chose something that reflects its mission: fostering well-being, inclusion, and care within the academic community.

By distributing worry stones together with counselling information, the ICC not only raises awareness of its services but also sends a clear message — well-being matters, and support is always available.
